Christian Siriano sent his fall 2011 collection down the New York Fashion Week runway this evening and he featured black on black, muted green, deep rose, full skirts, feminine lines, menswear inspiration, one shoulder necklines on cocktail attire, asymmetrical lines, hand-sewn embellishments, small feathers, touches of flower, traces of lace, modified pencil skirts, leather, sheer fabrics, platform shoes and a classic yet edgy clutch and the north/south tote.

Christian Soriano created a soft, black leather north/south tote for his fall 2011 collection with gold hardware along the edges and one top handle. The tote evoked a luxurious feel and featured a slim width; making it appropriate for daytime use. The tote signals the continuation of the north/south tote trend from the spring 2011 runways.

The semi-annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week takes place in New York City every February and September. Although the fashion weeks that are hosted in February events showcasing fall clothing lines aren't as big as the shows in September, the collections are no less magnificent.

While many great collections have drawn inspiration from the past, the fashion industry key's to success remains evolution. Moving forward is the driving force behind designs. The Fall/Winter 2010 collections varied as much as the designers' personal styles.

During last year's New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter, which ran from Feb. 11-18, 2010, the iconic Ralph Lauren showed Sherpa-lined jackets with crocheted knit sweaters. A more dainty, autumn-appropriate floral was modeled in full skirt and maxi dress form.
